1. Geographical distribution of contributors

In the period of January 01, 2018 - June 30, 2018, the authors of 213 submissions were from 12 countries: Iran, Saudi Arabia, United States of America, Germany, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Thailand, Sweden, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Sudan. Adding this information to the previous report, the journal has contributors from more than 25 countries in 2009-2018.

2. Number of reviewers per manuscript

During the period of January 01, 2018 - June 30, 2018, the average number of reviewers per submission was 3.82 reviewers (about 4) per submission (Min: 3, Max: 8). 

3. Article types

In January 01, 2018 - June 30, 2018, about 90% of the submissions were original articles; however, there were 6 Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses, 6 other reviews, and 2 Letter to-Editor. 

4. Research design of original articles

The research design of 108 articles (56%) of the 193 original articles that have been submitted in January 01, 2018 - June 30, 2018, was “Cross-Sectional”.  The second most common type of original articles were Randomized Controlled Trials (23%) including 38 Clinical Trials, 7 Educational Interventions, and 5 other types of Experimental Studies. There were also 2 Cohort Studies, 7 Case Reports, 13 Qualitative Research, 3 Case-Control Studies, and the rest of them were other types of original contributions. 

5. Acceptance and rejection statistics

The estimated acceptance rate of the submissions decreased from 66% in 2016 to 43% in 2017. However, in the first half of 2018 the acceptance rate dropped to 18.3%. A possible reason for increasing the Rejection Rate in 2018 is the quality strategy of the journal in publishing less articles per issue, with the goal of 8-10 papers per issue before the end of 2018. Another reason is that more authors submit their articles to try their luck or to use the Free Review System of the journal to improve the quality of their manuscripts.

On July 01, 2018, 153 out of 213 submissions during January 01, 2018 - June 30, 2018 are in final decision status. From that 153 decided submissions, 28 are accepted (18.3%), 125 submissions are rejected (Including 93 Immediate Rejections). Also, 60 manuscripts (from 213 submissions in Jan-June 2018) are still in the review process. From 28 accepted manuscripts, 8 are Randomized Controlled Trials and other types of Experimental Studies, 11 are Cross-Sectional studies, and 3 are Case Reports. There are also 2 Systematic-Review and Meta-Analyses, 2 Qualitative Research, and 2 other types of original research that are either published or in the language editing and formatting.
